Just thought i would give a quick update as to my plans for the rest of the season so that if anyone is curious they can now know.
There is only 5 weeks until nationals in Kelowna (elite nationals for me), i am looking forward to that race and will be putting in some intense efforts to get things tuned up in time.
However i am still doing some racing in-between in order to keep myself entertained, and also to allow the beard i am growing to be out in full force and infecting the clean cut world of triathlon in numerous cities across the province.
Side note, i am growing a beard for Kelowna, I started just after the devon GP race and will keep it for the race at nationals. I kinda figured that i am an unknown, no one knows me or remembers me, and no one will be looking out for me, so i might as well run with the underdog theme and grow a big grizzly beard just to freak people out...
Alright so next on the race calender is the sylvan lake half ironman. No i am not doing the whole race, just the bike, my coach and our bud lincoln will be doing the other parts, but we still hope to bring home some glory just for fun, race date July 23rd.
Then I am off to Calgary for July 30th and August 1st to race the Tour De Bowness stage race and try to bump myself into cat 3 for next year.
After that I am doing the frank dunn toyota triathlon in waskesui Saskatchewan, kind of like a home away from home race for me since i have spent parts of every summer there since i was born and have really grown up watching my dad do it. This one is a feel good race for me, it is a bit nostalgic as i won my first big race here when i was 17. I feel like for my journey to start a new i need to go back to where it began and conquer it once more, really come full circle on the past 6 years of my life and begin the next and equally amazing part of it. Race date August 7th.
Then I have two weeks until Nationals to get my shit together and grow my beard some more.
Hopefully that gives a bit of an update, if anyone feels like coming out and slaughtering me in a few training sessions to get me ready for the pain of nationals, just drop a comment and we will get it going. And to those who already do kill me in every workout, just keep doing what you are doing.
Cheers,
